International Men's Health Week celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and takes place in Australia from Monday, 10 June to Sunday, 16 June 2024. Australia's premier home care provider, Right at Home, shares information on men's health.

June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. Bowel cancer, also known as colorectal cancer, was the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia in 2019. More than 15,300 people were diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2023, with the average age being 69. 

World Immunisation Week, celebrated in the last week of April, aims to highlight the collective action needed to protect people from vaccine-preventable diseases. 

International Women's Day was held on 8 March with the theme "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress". Right at Home celebrated this day across the country with various local events held at Right at Home offices.

Heart disease is still Australia’s leading cause of death and affects families and communities around the country. REDFEB is dedicated to raising awareness for heart health and much-needed funds for research. 

Join Right at Home this month in recognition of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know that every year in Australia around 1,815 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In most cases the cancer will be diagnosed at an advanced stage, where it is very difficult to treat.

As the new year begins many of us may reflect on our lifestyles and set goals to become healthier and happier. At Right at Home, the most common ‘resolution’ we see is to eat better and possibly lose a few kilograms – a commendable goal that can improve overall well-being and reduce the risk for certain age-related health conditions. However, the challenge often lies not in setting these goals but in following through with them throughout the year and beyond.
