Assistive Technology & Home Modifications with Right at Home
The Government's new Support at Home Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) scheme provides separate funding to help older Australians live safely and independently in their own homes for longer. The scheme aims to improve independence and safety by funding essential products, equipment, and structural changes to a participant’s home environment.
Key Aspects of the AT-HM Program
Separate Funding – Unlike previous programs, the AT-HM scheme provides dedicated, upfront funding that does not need to be saved from a participant's ongoing quarterly service budget.
Assessment-Based Tiers – Eligibility and funding levels (Low, Medium, High) are determined by a comprehensive aged care assessment through My Aged Care. For assistive technology, high-tier funding can exceed $15,000 with appropriate evidence.
Comprehensive Support – Funding covers not just the items but also associated costs, such as health professional prescriptions, delivery, installation, education on usage, and maintenance.
Provider Role – Right at Home helps clients coordinate the entire process, including facilitating assessments, sourcing quotes, arranging delivery and installation, and ensuring safe and effective use of the items.
