Under the government’s Support at Home program, participants can now receive ready-made meal delivery and in-home meal preparation. Meal assistance is designed to help older Australians sustain their independence at home for longer while ensuring they have access to high-quality nutrition. Right at Home caregivers provide vital support with shopping and errands – assisting with grocery lists or paying bills – and offering meal support through planning and preparing nutritious meals.
For those opting for ready-made meal delivery, Right at Home coordinates with approved suppliers that meet the new Aged Care Rules 2025, ensuring meals are dietitian-approved and appropriately tailored to your nutritional or sensory needs. Under the program's split-payment model, your funding typically covers approximately 70–90% of the preparation and delivery costs, while you contribute a percentage for the raw food component based on your income assessment.
Alternatively, Right at Home caregivers can provide personalised in-home assistance under Support at Home’s Everyday Living category, which includes grocery shopping and fresh meal preparation tailored to client's specific dietary or cultural preferences. For these non-clinical services, co-contributions generally range from 17.5–80% for new and non-grandfathered participants whilst grandfathered clients who held a package before 12 September 2024 pay between 0–25% under the "no-worse-off" principle.
