More Than a Visit: The Nurses Supporting your Care Behind the Scenes

| Care Management

Behind every Right at Home visit is a team of dedicated nurses and care professionals helping ensure care remains safe, coordinated and responsive to needs.

When people think about in-home care, they often picture the care worker who visits their home each week. While that relationship is incredibly important, quality care is rarely delivered by one person alone.

Behind every Right at Home visit is a broader team working behind the scenes to help ensure services remain safe, coordinated, responsive and tailored to each person’s individual needs and goals. At the centre of that support are registered nurses whose clinical oversight and experience play an important piece in delivering high-quality care at home.

Today, on International Nurses Day, we want to recognise and celebrate the nurses whose work often happens very quietly behind the scenes, but whose impact is felt every day by the clients, participants, and families we support.

It might surprise you to know that even clients receiving modest levels of support have a multidisciplinary team involved in involved in monitoring and coordinating their services. For example, a person receiving a small amount of weekly support through the Support at Home program may still have several professionals contributing to their care planning, clinical oversight, service coordination, and quality monitoring – including multiple registered nurses.

As care needs change over time, the level of clinical oversight and coordination may also increase to meet individual needs and preferences – and help ensure services continue to support safety, wellbeing, independence and quality of life.

The Team Supporting Your Care

Care Partner

Your Care Partner acts as the key point of contact, helping coordinate services, monitor wellbeing, review goals, and support communication between clients, families, care workers, and the wider care team.

Business Owner

Many Right at Home franchise owners are registered nurses with extensive healthcare and community care experience. They provide senior clinical leadership and oversight, particularly in more complex situations where additional guidance, assessment, or decision-making may be required.

Clinical Care & Quality Advisors

Our Clinical Care & Quality Advisors are experienced registered nurses who support best practice across care delivery. This includes reviewing care documentation, supporting quality and safety processes, identifying clinical risks, and helping ensure services align with current clinical and regulatory standards.

Clinical Governance Manager

The Clinical Governance Manager provides oversight across clinical governance and quality systems to support safe, coordinated, and compliant care delivery throughout the organisation.

Nursing Care Beyond the Front Door

While clients may only see one or two familiar faces in their home, there is often a team of nurses and care professionals continually working behind the scenes to support their care journey.

That means regularly asking questions such as:

  • Are this person’s current supports meeting their needs?
  • Have their health circumstances or preferences changed?
  • Is additional assessment or review required?
  • Are there opportunities to improve wellbeing, independence, or safety?

This behind-the-scenes clinical oversight is an important part of delivering responsive, person-centred care, especially as people’s needs evolve over time.

On International Nurses Day, we thank the nurses across Right at Home for the compassion, professionalism, and clinical expertise they bring to aged care every day. Their work may not always be visible, but it helps provide reassurance to clients and families alike that they are supported by a team committed to quality care.

Because great care isn’t just about what happens during the visit, it’s about everything happening behind the scenes to support you.
