Casual Care Workers – Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Support Gold Coast Region


Description

Are you an experienced and compassionate Care Worker looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND)?

We are seeking dedicated Casual Care Workers to join our growing team supporting clients throughout the Gold Coast region. This rewarding role provides one-on-one support to individuals living with complex care needs in their own homes, helping them maintain dignity, independence, and quality of life.

About the Role

As an MND Care Worker, you will provide person-centred support tailored to each client's individual needs. Shifts include mornings, afternoons and many extend to evenings, weekends, and overnight support.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Personal care including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and continence support
  • Assistance with mobility, transfers, and the use of mobility aids and equipment
  • Meal preparation and assistance with eating and drinking
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in health or wellbeing
  • Medication assistance in accordance with care plans and training provided
  • Domestic assistance including light housekeeping, laundry, and linen changes
  • Social support and companionship
  • Supporting clients with complex care requirements associated with MND
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and communication with the care team
  • Providing compassionate end-of-life support where required

About You

You are caring, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality care that promotes independence, dignity, and choice.

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate III in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability, Community Services, Nursing, or equivalent experience
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Current Australian Driver Licence and reliable vehicle
  • National Police Check
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Understanding of person-centred care principles

Highly Desirable

Experience supporting clients living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) or other progressive neurological conditions, including:

  • Non-invasive ventilation (NIV)
  • PEG or tube feeding support
  • Suction machine use
  • CoughAssist or mechanical insufflator-exsufflator devices
  • Breath stacking techniques
  • Manual handling and complex transfer techniques
  • Palliative and end-of-life care experience
