Our home care services in Brisbane

Every care plan starts with a conversation, because no two households need the same thing. These are the services Brisbane families draw on most, and they are available from all seven offices.

Personal care

Help with showering, dressing, grooming and mobility, delivered with dignity and without rushing.

Domestic assistance

The practical work that keeps a home safe and comfortable: cleaning, laundry, shopping and meal preparation.

In home nursing

Clinical care from registered nurses, including medication management, wound care and chronic condition support, delivered at home rather than in a clinic.

Companionship and community access

Someone to share a cup of tea with, and support to get to appointments, the shops or a local club.

Respite care

Short term support that gives family carers a genuine break, whether that is a few hours a week or a longer stretch.

Dementia and specialist support

Consistent, familiar care for people living with dementia or cognitive change, built around routine.

Why Brisbane families choose Right at Home

When families start comparing home care in Brisbane, what they are really weighing up is trust. Our caregivers are matched to each client on values and personality as well as skill, so the person who arrives each week becomes a familiar face rather than another name on a roster.

As needs change the plan changes with them, so you are not starting the search again in six months. And because there are seven offices across the city, the team supporting your parent is based near their suburb, not in another state.

  • The same caregivers each visit, introduced in person before the first shift

  • Care Managers contactable 24 hours a day, seven days a week

  • Approved Support at Home provider, plus private care that can start now

  • Quarterly face to face supervisory visits and twice yearly feedback surveys

When Brisbane families start looking for home care

Almost nobody plans this in advance. Most families call us in the middle of something, and these are the three moments we hear about most.

After a stay in hospital

Coming home is the hard part. We help through the first few weeks, from personal care and medication reminders to in home nursing, so a recovery does not turn into a readmission.

When the family carer is running on empty

If you are the one doing everything, respite care is not giving up. A few hours a week, or a longer break, is what keeps you well enough to keep going.

When memory changes make home feel unsafe

Dementia support works best when it is familiar and consistent: the same caregivers, a steady routine, and someone who notices what is changing.

Not sure which one you are? That is exactly what the free consultation is for. Call 1300 363 802 and just ask.

Brisbane home care, step by step

How to arrange in home care in Brisbane

Book your free consultation

Call us or send a message, and we arrange a free consultation at home in Brisbane, at a time that suits you.

We listen, then plan the care

We talk through the daily routine, what is getting harder and what would genuinely help, then build a care plan around that rather than around a package.

We check your funding options

We work out whether Support at Home funding applies, help you through the My Aged Care assessment, and set out what private care looks like if you would rather start now.

We match the right caregiver

Once the plan is agreed we match a caregiver on skills, background and interests, not simply on who happens to be free that day.

You meet your care team

Your Care Manager introduces the caregiver in person before the first visit, so nobody unfamiliar turns up at the door.

We review as needs change

Care needs shift over time. We check in and adjust the plan with you, whether that means more personal care, nursing support or respite.

If you have not done this before, the process is shorter than most people expect. Your local office handles the paperwork side of it.

Home care funding and what it costs in Brisbane

Government funded home care comes through the Support at Home program. What you contribute depends on an assessment of your circumstances rather than a fixed price list, which is why no honest provider can quote you a single number up front.

If you have not been assessed yet, that is the first step, and we can walk you through it. Pricing and inclusions are published by each office, so ask the team that covers your suburb.

Three ways care usually starts

Support at Home

Government funded, assessed through My Aged Care. We can help you arrange the assessment.

Private care

Paid directly, so support can start without waiting on an assessment or a funding allocation.

NDIS and disability support

For participants under 65, with the same caregiver matching and Care Manager oversight.

Common questions about home care in Brisbane

Which Right at Home office will look after my parent?

The one that covers their suburb. Search the postcode at the top of this page and we will name the office, or call 1300 363 802 and we will check it for you. If a suburb sits on a boundary the two offices sort it out between them, so you only ever deal with one team.

How much do you get on a home care package?

There is no single price, because Support at Home works on an assessed contribution rather than a flat fee. Your contribution depends on your income and assets as assessed by Services Australia, and the rest is covered by your funding. The clearest way to find out where you stand is to have the assessment done, and we can explain what the result means for you.

What happens if you cannot afford aged care in Australia?

Nobody is turned away from government funded home care because of their financial situation. Contributions are assessed on income and assets, and there are hardship provisions for people who genuinely cannot pay. If money is the thing stopping you from asking for help, tell us, because it is a more common conversation than most families expect.

How do I choose the right home care provider?

Ask three things. Will the same carer come each visit, or a different person each time. What happens after hours and on weekends. And what the provider charges in fees on top of the care itself, because that is what decides how many hours of actual care your funding buys. Any provider should be able to answer all three plainly.

What is the difference between home care and residential aged care?

Home care supports someone in their own home. Residential aged care means moving into a facility, and it is assessed and funded differently. Most people we speak to want to stay where they are, and home care exists to make that possible for as long as it safely can be. Right at Home provides in home care only.
