Our home care services in Toronto

Every care plan starts with a conversation, because no two households need the same thing. These are the services our Toronto clients draw on most.

Personal care

Help with showering, dressing, grooming and mobility, delivered with dignity and without rushing.

Domestic assistance

The practical work that keeps a home safe and comfortable: cleaning, laundry, shopping and meal preparation.

In home nursing

Clinical care from registered nurses, including medication management, wound care and chronic condition support, delivered at home rather than in a clinic.

Companionship and community access

Someone to share a cup of tea with, and support to get to appointments, the shops or a local club.

Respite care

Short term support that gives family carers a genuine break, whether that is a few hours a week or a longer stretch.

Dementia and specialist support

Consistent, familiar care for people living with dementia or cognitive change, built around routine.

Your local care team

Your care in Toronto is delivered by Right at Home Newcastle Toronto. Our caregivers work across the region, and our Care Managers can meet you in person rather than over a phone line from another state.

We are contactable 24 hours a day, seven days a week, because care needs do not keep office hours.

Suburbs we service around Toronto

Alongside Toronto, our team supports families in Blackalls Park, Arcadia Vale, Speers Point, Boolaroo, West Wallsend, Barnsley, Wangi Wangi, Bonnells Bay, Morisset, East Maitland, Tenambit and Cessnock.

If you are not sure whether we reach you, call and ask. The service area is wider than most people assume.

Home care funding and what it costs

Government funded home care comes through the Support at Home program. What you contribute depends on an assessment of your circumstances rather than a fixed price list, which is why no honest provider can quote you a single number up front.

If you have not been assessed yet, that is the first step, and we can walk you through it. Full details of pricing and inclusions for this office are on our services page.

Common questions about home care in Toronto

Who is eligible for home care funding?

Eligibility is national rather than state based. Generally it applies to people over 65, or over 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, who are finding everyday tasks harder to manage on their own. The path is the same everywhere: register with My Aged Care, have an assessment, then choose a provider. We can walk you through the assessment step.

What is the 28 day rule for aged care?

That rule belongs to residential aged care, not home care. It refers to the number of days of leave a resident can take from a facility each year while keeping their place. Home care has no equivalent, because the care comes to the person rather than the person moving into a facility. If you go away or into hospital, services simply pause and restart.

What happens if I cannot afford to contribute?

Nobody is turned away from government funded home care because of their financial situation. Contributions are assessed on income and assets, and there are hardship provisions for people who genuinely cannot pay. If money is the thing stopping you asking for help, say so, because it is a more common conversation than most families expect.

What are the three types of aged care?

Usually described as help at home, residential aged care, and short term or respite care. Help at home is what most people want and what we provide. Residential care means moving into a facility. Short term care covers recovery after a hospital stay or a break for a family carer, and can be delivered at home too.
