Right at Home Celebrates National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week

| News

Right at Home Australia is celebrating National Cervical Cancer Awareness week from November 7 to 13. We are proud that Australia’s leading vaccination and screening programs mean that we could be the first country in the world to eliminate cervical cancer by 2035.

According to the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation, most cervical cancers occur in women and people with a cervix who have never screened or do not screen regularly. Having regular Cervical Screening Tests is the best way to protect yourself.

The HPV vaccine prevents 93% of cervical cancers. The vaccine is offered throughout Australia to students aged 12-13 years as part of the school-based vaccination program. Catch up doses can be received through GPs up until age 19. Self-collection is now available for all women and people with a cervix. To discuss your screening options or check if you are due for a screening test please talk to your GP.

For people recovering from cancer, Right at Home provides specialist care.  In-home care is often a great way to alleviate some of the pressures of family caregiving when it comes to cancer, allowing you to focus on emotional support instead of the details of daily activities. Right at Home caregivers can help with any of the Care Services, as well as supplement any hospice care.

If you haven't been screened lately or at all, book your appointment today.
