Wellness & Safety with Right at Home

The Government's new Support at Home legislation explicitly mandates a strong focus on wellness, reablement, and safety as core principles of aged care service delivery. Right at Home supports clients through wellness, reablement, and safety by implementing a personalised, goal-oriented care approach that promotes independence and a safe living environment.

Wellness & Safety Explained

Under Support at Home, our caregivers deliver essential services through a wellness and reablement framework designed to help your loved one remain healthy, independent, and safe at home. By focusing on "doing with" rather than just "doing for", we help delay the physical and mental effects of ageing through tailored Independence and Everyday Living supports. Our team can facilitate Restorative Care Pathways by assisting with light exercise or following specific instructions from physiotherapists and occupational therapists, including accompaniment to hydrotherapy or the local gym.

Beyond physical health, we provide Everyday Living assistance such as dietary meal planning, preparation, and grocery shopping, alongside critical safety measures like medication reminders and supervision. To foster cognitive wellness, our caregivers also engage clients in stimulating activities like puzzles, cards, and reading, ensuring they remain socially connected and mentally active.

5 Key Requirements for Wellness & Safety

Maximise Capacity & Independence

Focus on participants' strengths and goals through goal-oriented, time-limited interventions to maximise their wellbeing, capacity, and independence.

Promote Social Connection

Help older Australians stay active, healthy, and socially connected to their communities. This is a vital aspect of overall wellbeing.

Adhere to Duty of Care & Code of Conduct

Providers must deliver safe, high-quality services, adhering to the Aged Care Code of Conduct to keep participants safe from harm while treating them with dignity and respect.

Balance Duty of Care with Dignity of Risk

Providers must respect a participant's right to make choices involving personal risk, ensuring these risks and mitigation strategies are discussed and documented in the care plan.

Implement Robust Risk & Incident Management

Providers must have strong systems in place for assessing, managing, and reporting risks and incidents, with oversight from the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission to ensure compliance.
