It was prostate cancer awareness month this September, and with it, the Long Run campaign.
The Long Run is an awareness and fundraising event for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, supporting all men and families impacted by prostate cancer. For those who signed up, they were required to run, walk, or wheel themselves 72 kilometres during September. Check out the Leader Board to see who has been making an impact this month!
The fact is, more men die of prostate cancer than women do of breast cancer, and it is more prevalent in older men.
Prostate cancer is preventable with early detection and monitoring, so it is important to get checked. If detected and treated, home care and assistance may be required for recovering patients.
What’s more, this cancer type can cause continence issues, and so in-home care can become an important service to ease the burden on family members, and to ensure the comfort and dignity of the patient. At Right at Home, some of our offices have continence care expertise, while others can call in experts to help with any new client need.
