Men's Health Week 2023

| News

The theme of Men's Health Week 2023, from 12 to 18 June, is Healthy Habits – encouraging men and boys to build healthy habits by identifying small changes they can make that benefit their health and wellbeing.

Men's Health Week was started by the United States Congress in 1994, to heighten awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.

In Australia, Men’s Health Week is organised by the Centre for Male Health at Western Sydney University, a partner of the Australian Men's Health Forum (AMHF).

Visit the AMHF website for a host of “Know Your Man Facts” toolkits that cover topics on how to promote good physical and mental health.

According to data collected by the Australian Bureau of Statistics in 2021, the leading causes of death for Australian men include, in order from first to last:

  • ischaemic heart disease
  • dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
  • trachea and lung cancer
  • cerebrovascular diseases
  • chronic lower respiratory diseases
  • prostate cancer
  • blood and lymph cancer, including leukaemia
  • diabetes
  • colon and rectum cancer
  • suicide

don't know how to end this one???
