Highly experienced and enthusiastic business owner Kevin Kelly, opened his doors this morning to the second Right at Home Australia franchise in Queensland, in a launch attended by John McVeigh, Federal Member for Groom and former Qld Minister of Agriculture and David Janetzki State Member of Parliament.

Located in Toowoomba, Right at Home Darling Downs is set to serve the South-Western region of Queensland from the New South Wales border in the South stretching over 60,000sq/miles to Emerald and Mackay in the north.

The demographic and health care changes in Australia highlight the economic challenges of an ageing population. The number of Australians aged 65 and over is expected to increase rapidly, from around 2.5 million in 2002 to 6.2 million in 2042. Selling up and moving to an aged care facility is no longer as affordable an option as it used to be. Aged care facilities are going to be stretched due to high demand and a dwindling supply of resources. In-home care or 'home care' as it is commonly called provides a safe and viable alternative for the future.

Due to far-reaching reforms in the government aged care, disability care and home care funding, smaller companies focused on high service levels and individual attention now have an opportunity to deliver services to government-funded clients in addition to their traditional private pay clientele.

Right At Home Darling Downs is tackling this challenge head-on and is prepared to serve the local community with a wide range of home care services. Having run a very successful business in the manufacture and distribution of animal feeds throughout Queensland, Northern NSW and the Northern Territory, Kevin Kelly is familiar with the region and its community.

Looking for the opportunity to make a more meaningful contribution to their community, Kevin and Camilla purchased the franchise rights for the Right at Home Darling Downs territory in January 2017 staffing with highly qualified, local home care experts. "We are passionate about utilising the Right at Home franchise opportunity to make a meaningful contribution towards improving the lives of aged and disabled members of our community living in Toowoomba and the broader Queensland 'outback'".

The ability to provide services that enhance and improve the quality of life was the driving force behind their decision to join Right at Home. Kevin and Camilla have four children and are very active members of their Church community in Toowoomba.

Not all providers provide the full continuum of care which can be limited to either specialised nursing care or simply companion care.

Right at Home Darling Downs will be offering the full continuum and 3 broad categories of care:

a) Companion Care

b) Personal Care

c) Skilled (Nursing Care)

"I believe what sets us apart from other home care services, is the fact that we do not charge admin and care planning fees which provides clients with more care for their budget. We also offer skilled nursing which integrates with our other types of care and delivers a holistic approach. All of this is delivered with a 24-hour on-call service ensuring quality care for our clients," says owner Kevin Kelly.

Through Right at Home Darling Downs and their specialist staff, Kevin and Camilla will uniquely offer a client-centred approach matching carers to clients and ensuring continuity of care with the same carer. Care will be flexible in its delivery with carers delivering their service around times convenient for the client.

These features of Right at Home Darling Downs will be welcomed by the local community. Kevin and Camilla's mission is to improve the quality of life for those they serve in the Toowoomba and Darling Downs community, supported by an outcomes-driven, measurable, care planning process which includes all aspects of a client's wellbeing, including the vital socialisation aspects that support good mental health. They will focus on the individual, to improve the quality of their recovery and or their life and provide support and peace of mind for their family.

Founded in 1995 in Nebraska USA and launched in Australia in 2014, Right at Home is a leader in the home care industry with more than 520 locations in eight countries around the world making a positive difference in the lives of over 17,000 people each and every day. Right at Home offers home care and assistance to seniors and adults living with a disability who want to continue to live independently. Local Right at Home offices are the experts in Home Care and are independently owned and operated and directly employ and supervise all caregiving staff, each of whom is thoroughly screened, trained and insured prior to entering a client's home.

Right at Home Darling Downs will be offering services to the local community in any setting of the family home, an independent living retirement community, an assisted living community or a nursing home. Their services will be provided to adults living with a disability, to people recovering from accidents, illness or major surgery such as knee and hip replacements and to help transition patients from a hospital setting back to their homes. It is proven that people recover far more quickly at home than they do in a hospital environment and home care facilitates this.
