Right at Home acknowledges International Day of Persons with Disability

| Disability

Last Saturday heralded 2022’s International Day of Persons with Disability and what an important day it is every year.

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is held on 3 December each year to recognise the contributions and achievements of the 4.4 million Australians with disability, both visible and invisible.

The United Nations (UN) founded this day for disability inclusion as an essential condition to upholding human rights, sustainable development, and peace and security. It is also central to the UN’s promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to leave no one behind.

The United Nations theme for IDPwD 2022 is ‘Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world’.

The UN believes that the complex and interconnected crises facing humanity today, including the shocks resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine and other countries, and the tipping point in climate change, all pose humanitarian challenges of an unprecedented nature, as well as threats to the global economy.

At Right at Home Australia, we deliver disability support services under NDIS funding for plan-managed and self-managed participants. Some of our offices also provide services to agency-managed participants and provide services under DVA, funding. Right at Home also provides services under Motor Accident and Workcover Insurance, Carer Gateway and private pay arrangements to non-NDIS participants.
