International Day of People with Disabilities at Right at Home

| Disability

Sunday 3 December was International Day of People with Disabilities, marking the World Health Organization’s annual call to action to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) for, with, and by persons with disabilities.

We thought that we’d take this opportunity to talk about disability support at Right at Home Australia.

The NDIS is Australia’s first national Scheme for people with disability. The NDIS provides funding directly to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.

The NDIS also connects anyone with disability to services in their community. This includes connections to doctors, community groups, sporting clubs, support groups, libraries and schools, as well as providing information about what support is provided by each state and territory government.

The NDIS now supports more than 500,000 Australians living with a disability to access the services and supports they need.

Right at Home delivers disability support services under NDIS funding for plan-managed and self-managed participants. Some of our offices provide services to agency-managed participants. Right at Home also provide services under DVA, Motor Accident and Workcover Insurance, Carer Gateway and private pay arrangements to non-NDIS participants.

Right at Home’s mission is to ‘Improve the Quality of Life for Those we Serve’ and we do this with the Right Approach™, the Right People™, and the Right Services™.

Our approach is to ensure that participants are listened to, their goals are built into the care approach or care plan, and care and support is delivered by trained, screened, and insured support workers who are employed by your local Right at Home office and who are supervised by care managers. Our personalised disability support is flexible may be provided across Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia, and Victoria.
