Following National Diabetes Week - Information on Diabetes Care at Home

| Chronic Disease

In what was year three of the ‘Heads Up on Diabetes’ campaign for National Diabetes Week earlier this month, Diabetes Australia once again called on Australians to rethink what they know about and how they perceive diabetes.

According to Diabetes Australia, almost 700,000 people living with diabetes experience a mental or emotional health challenge every year. What’s more, many people living with diabetes experience blame and shame due to misinformation and common misconceptions about diabetes.

This year’s goal was to:

  • Reduce the burden with more compassion
  • Reduce the blame with more understanding
  • Reduce the barriers and help people get support
  • Rethink diabetes

Diabetes is a common, complex disease that can occur due to a number of circumstances and variables. The key to conquering any disease is to remove stigma and invest in research and care, so that all patients with the disease can lead happy, independent lives.

This is where Right at Home comes in. For many older diabetes sufferers or those living with complications caused by the disease, help and support is needed to live rewarding and fulfilling lives. At Right at Home our mission is to improve the quality of life for those we serve. We do this with a a personalised approach to design a care and support plan around the client's needs and goals. Our care planning process and supervised and reviewed care and support services means that your needs are regularly assessed and the care plan updated as required. We provide high quality care including nursing services and wound and medication management. Right at Home focuses on the individual and their specific needs as opposed to a blanket approach where care is reduced to a list of tasks. At Right at Home, our clients, their families, and our caregivers are at the centre of everything we do.

In good health.
