Disability Support Worker - Cert III in Disability & Mental Health Experience.

We are currently looking for Disability Support Workers to join our team to work with our growing number of NDIS participants.

The right support workers will have experience working with persons who have a disability, behavioural challenges and or mental health diagnosis.

You will be required to have a minimum Certificate III in Disability.

A Mental Health First Aid and Manual Handling certificate would also be highly regarded.

We are specifically looking for support workers who have adaptability, flexibility, reliability and are dedicated to assisting our participants to work towards meeting their current & future health goals.

You will be providing exceptional, person-centered care to enhance the lives of our clients in the comfort of their family home. Shifts will range from 6am through the entire day.

 

Duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Personal Care: assisting with hygiene and personal grooming.
  • Medication assistance.
  • Support individuals with intellectual, mental health and/or physical disabilities.
  • Support individuals with specific Behavioural Management requirements.
  • Monitor the well-being of the participant reporting and documenting their progress.
  • Manual Handling - using apparatus such as sara stedy, full sling hoist, and slide sheet.
  • Attending training & competency requirements as required.

Other requirements that would be involved in the role include.

  • Support workers who can commit to regular and consistent shift schedules as well as irregular hours, including early mornings/ evenings, overnight, weekends and public holidays.
  • Able to cope with the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • A strong sense of professional boundaries.
  • Ability to follow the company policies and procedures and code of conduct. We do things differently at Right at Home. You'll be part of a person's ongoing support team, which means you'll get to build long-term professional relationships with your participant and family members and your teammates.

You will have:

  • Minimum Certificate III or IV Disability.
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate.
  • Manual Handling Certificate and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in disability support work.
  • Current CPR / First Aid Certificate.
  • Current and Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check or yellow card.
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Reliable, registered and insured vehicle.
  • Smartphone with internet access.
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
