World Youth Skills Day with Right at Home Australia

| News

Today is World Youth Skills Day and we at Right at Home Australia would like to say thank you to our incredible community of young (and older) caregivers.

World Youth Skills Day was inaugurated in 2014 by the United Nations General Assembly to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.

World Youth Skills Day 2022 takes place amid concerted efforts towards socio-economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic that are interconnected with challenges such as; climate change, conflict, persisting poverty, rising inequality, rapid technological change, demographic transition and more.

With these challenges in mind, we aim to help and support young people at the start, during, and end of their time as a Right at Home caregiver. We wish to provide today’s youth with the opportunity to serve their communities who need them right now. Right at Home stands prepared to equip our caregivers and home care workers with the right training and support so they can help our most vulnerable community members, making a real difference to them while growing and thriving as a person.

At Right at Home, our mission is to improve the quality of life for those we serveTM. Right at Home and it's 40 offices around Australia have numerous opportunities for community minded people both young and middle-aged or older to join our work force. We have opportunities for companion carers, companion support workers as well as personal carers and personal support workers, disability support workers, enrolled nurses, registered nurses and assistant nurses.

As a younger person or mature aged student you can use the opportunities at Right at Home to gain experience in caring whilst studying for caring, health or allied health courses at university and TAFE. Right at Home will provide you with training and the practical experience you need in those courses. In some cases the Right at Home office may actually employ you as a trainee and you would get paid through your traineeship. Each office has varying opportunities so take a look at our job board or give your local office a call to ask further questions. We also welcome any mums who are returning to work as their children enter school who are looking for flexible hours to accommodate a work-life-balance.

A job at Right at Home caring for your local community will give you immense satisfaction as well as flexibility to look after your family. We also have roles for older workers who want a change in pace but are still able to work, and who want to help their local community with shopping, transport or companionship. Right at Home have reward and recognition programs that inspire you and add to your potential earnings.

As well as gaining satisfaction in 'improving the quality of life for those you serveTM, being part of a Right at Home team makes you feel connected and supported with care manager supervision and someone to call and support you in your daily role as a caregiver or support worker. Right at Home offices also provide you with the opportunity to progress to administration and management roles in your local area, in an industry that is growing in size and importance in Australia.
