September is a big month for global health awareness and Right at Home, Australia’s premium homecare provider celebrates Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. This month, the Australian Cancer Research Foundation is calling on all Australians to recognise and campaign for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. 

Prostate Cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in Australian men with 20,000 diagnoses and close to 3,300 deaths each year. Prostate cancer kills more men than breast cancer kills women.The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia encourages all men over 50 years of age, or 40 years if they have a family history of prostate cancer to talk to their GP about testing as part of their regular health check-up.

Keep a lookout this September for landmarks like Brisbane’s Storey Bridge and City Hall as they light up blue to raise awareness for prostate cancer. 

If you would like to make a personal contribution, join The Long Run campaign! The Long Run is an awareness and fundraising event for Australian men and families impacted by prostate cancer. All you need to do is run, walk or wheel 72 kilometres during September – when and where is up to you. Every kilometre you cover will raise funds to bring us closer to a world where prostate cancer is no longer a burden and where all men and their families with a diagnosis are supported.
