Right at Home Homecare and Support Celebrates Inclusivity and International Day of People with Disabilities

| News

International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPwD) is held on the 3rd of December every year. This year’s theme is ‘Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world’.

IDPwD is an international United Nations observed day. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disabilities and celebrate their achievements and contributions. The Australian Government has been supporting IDPwD since 1996 and provides funds to promote and raise awareness of the day around Australia.

Since its inception by the UN General Assembly in 1992, IDPwD has focused on how communities can strive for inclusivity through the removal of physical, technological, and attitudinal barriers for people with disabilities.

In Australia, the National Disability Insurance Scheme has been set up with the main objective to provide all Australians who acquire a permanent disability before the age of 65 which substantially impacts how they manage everyday activities with the reasonable and necessary supports they need to live an ordinary life. This support assists people living with disability to access communities and remain as independent as possible to achieve the feeling of inclusivity.

If you or someone you love, needs help with supports for their disability, please don’t hesitate to contact Right at Home. We offer in-home support and care for plan-managed and self-managed participants funded through the NDIS as well as through private funding. Some of our offices are registered NDIS providers and can also provide support to agency managed NDIS participants.

We are here to help.
