Right at Home Encourages Socialisation this Holiday Season

| News

It's the festive season and as we head into the New Year this weekend, what better excuse to connect with those we love!

Socialisation (the opposite of social isolation) is strongly connected to developmental psychology – we need social experiences to learn and survive.

Many experts believe that socialisation can lead to desirable outcomes like good moral.

According to Connect Ability Australia, the social interactions you have with others and the connections you continue to build into your senior years have a huge impact on your overall wellbeing, especially for those who are availing of supported independent living. Studies have shown that seniors who make an on-going effort to stay active in the community and engaged in relationships enjoy a range of health benefits, including better cognitive function, improved emotional health, better physical health, a stronger immune system, better sleep, and overall, a happier life.

This holiday season, we encourage you to think about those in your community who might be vulnerable to social isolation. Include them in your holiday activities and show them that they are not alone.

In good health.
