Right at Home Celebrates an Australian tradition - Ekka

| News

Right at Home, Australia’s trusted homecare provider, celebrates Ekka. We lament the loss of Queensland’s annual royal show this year due to COVID-19 and with August’s 'Ekka Winds' upon us, we are reminded of the gusty wind-blown festivities in Queensland’s capital.

 EKKA 2020 Blog

Colloquially and fondly known as the Ekka, The Royal Queensland Show has been running since 1876 and is the state’s largest and one of its most loved events.

To ensure that the spirit of the Ekka stays alive in 2020, the RACQ its major sponsor, is throwing a 10-day Ekka Online celebration. You can tune in from anywhere in Australia from 7 to 16 August.

With parts of the country in severe lockdown once more, what better way to feel connected than to tune in to such an important Australian tradition.

There are some fantastic gardening, indoor planting, cute farm animal and baking videos just to name a few. To get started, visit ekkaonline.

Don’t forget to also order your strawberry sundae. Ekka's iconic Strawberry Sundaes are a family favourite and have been enjoyed by millions of Ekka guests since the 1950s, with more than 180,000 devoured at the show last year. For over 30 years, all proceeds from the Sundaes have gone to support the Prince Charles Hospital Foundation and The Common Good. This year proceeds will be helping to fund medical research into Coronavirus and the development of treatments for vulnerable patients amongst other important causes.

From all of us here at Right at Home.

Happy festivities!

Note: With Melbourne now in lock-down again, it is as important as ever to be vigilant.
