National Safe Work Month at Right at Home Home Care

| News

October is National Safe Work Month. Latest Safe Work Australia data shows that in 2022, 195 workers in Australia were fatally injured at work and 127,800 serious workers’ compensation claims were made.

Safe Work Australia is the national policy agency responsible for Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) and workers’ compensation arrangements in Australia. Since 2009, Safe Work Australia has run a national campaign each October to raise awareness of WHS and provide resources for Australian workplaces to run their own events.

National Safe Work Month provides a valuable reminder to raise awareness of WHS and highlights the collective benefit safe and healthy work has to individuals, organisations, and the broader community.

This year’s theme is ‘safety is everyone’s business’, highlighting that WHS is a fundamental principle and right across all industries and occupations, while reinforcing the business benefits that come from committing to safer workplaces.

Safe Work Australia has segmented this month into four key topics.

Week 1: Work health and safety fundamentals

Week 2: Psychosocial hazards

Week 3: Risk management fundamentals

Week 4: Musculoskeletal injuries

You can read more about each topic at Safe Work Australia’s weekly topics page.
