Here are some helpful and simple ways to improve your heart health now and into the future.

Laugh out loud

Laugh out loud in your daily life. Whether you like watching funny movies or cracking jokes with your friends, laughter may be good for your heart. Research suggests laughing can lower stress hormones, decrease inflammation in your arteries, and raise your levels of high-density lipoprotein (HLD), also known as “good cholesterol”.

Reduce your salt intake

Salt is one of the leading contributors to heart disease. In particular, processed and fast food contain high levels of salt so think about preparing your own meal if you can, and consider a salt substitute if you have high blood pressure.

Get *Nutty

Including more nuts in your diet can help lower your risk of cardiovascular disease. Keep the portions small as they can be high in calories.

Give up Smoking

This will be the biggest thing you can do to protect your heart health and your general wellbeing.

Get *Fishy

A diet rich in in omega-3 fatty acids can help keep heart disease at bay.

For advice on keeping your heart healthy, visit the Heart Foundation website or talk to your doctor about any questions or concerns.

*not advised if allergic to nuts and fish

Happy Valentines!
