Dementia Awareness with Right at Home Australia

| News

September is globally recognised as Dementia or Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.

Dementia Awareness Month 1

Right at Home Australia's trusted home care company reminds you about Alzheimer's and Dementia. This year in Australia, Dementia Australia will be replacing its annual Dementia Awareness Month campaign with Dementia Action Week, which is being held this week from 21 to 27 September. This year’s theme is ‘Small Actions. Big Difference’. The aim is to encourage all Australians to become more aware of dementia, to get a better understanding of what it is like to live with dementia and to learn how we can support people living with dementia, their families and their caregivers.

Dementia Australia represents the 459,000 Australians living with dementia and the almost 1.6 million Australians involved in their care.

Dementia describes a collection of symptoms that are caused by disorders affecting the brain. It is not one specific disease. Dementia affects thinking, behaviour and the ability to perform everyday tasks. Brain function is affected enough to interfere with the person’s normal social or working life.
