Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and Right at Home Australia

| News

June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and once again we acknowledge and raise awareness about Australia’s second deadliest cancer.

bowel cancer blog

According to Bowel Cancer Australia, bowel cancer claims 103 Australian lives every week. That’s 5,336 lives a year.

So, what can we do? This year, you can help virtually by purchasing a Virtual Bowel Cancer Awareness Ribbon. You can, send a ribbon to someone you know, dedicate a ribbon in remembrance or buy a ribbon to help raise awareness.

Red Apple Day forms part of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. Each year on the 16th of June, Aussies are encouraged to donate to the cause. Bowel Cancer Australia's apple logo is symbolic of the charity's bowel cancer message: bowel cancer is treatable and beatable if detected early. The outline of Bowel Cancer Australia's apple logo appears as an abstract of a human colon. The small hole in the apple is caused by a worm. If detected early and removed, the worm is unable to continue affecting the apple or the health of the tree. It's the same with people. If bowel cancer is detected early, it can be successfully treated, so people can continue to enjoy a healthy life. AND, both red and green apples are also a nutritious source of dietary fibre ?

If you or someone you know needs cancer care, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are here to help provide in-home care and support to all Australians in need.

In good health.
