Pay attention to your lung health - a COVID-19 message from Right at Home, Australia’s trusted home care provider

| Chronic Disease

As we face COVID-19, Right at Home, Australia’s trusted home care provider and the lung foundation are calling on all Australians to pay more attention to their lung health.

The month of May is Lung Health Awareness Month. The Lung Foundation reminds us that in Australia, from compromised air quality due to bush fire smoke, to the current pandemic of COVID-19, our lung health has never been more important.

The Foundation lists five tips to look after your lungs.

  • Make your life a smoke-free zone by quitting smoking and/or reducing your exposure to second-hand smoke.
  • Wear appropriate protective equipment if you work in environments that expose you to the inhalation of dust, gas, fumes or chemicals.
  • Protect yourself from influenza and pneumonia by having the vaccinations.
  • Exercise regularly and have a healthy diet.
  • Practice good hand hygiene to minimise the spread of germs.

For more information on lung health, visit the Lung Foundation Australia website.

During this COVID-19 period, the Lung Foundation has extra tips for keeping your lungs, body and mind healthy.

1.    Maintain social distancing

2.    Vaccinate against flu and pneumonia

3.    Schedule telehealth appointments

4.    Utilise delivery services

5.    Keep your body moving

6.    Look after your mental health

7.    Maintain healthy habits

8.    Keep your home virus free

From all of us at Right at Home, wishing you good health.
