Recent changes to the funding model for home care gives people greater say in the care they are given and greater choice in who delivers that care. From 2017 government funding will flow directly to consumers instead of being channelled through the not-for-profit providers. The same reforms implemented in Australia were implemented in the UK ten years ago which has seen a switch from over 90% not-for-profit providers to less than 10%.
